‘Girl Child Education’: TY Danjuma, ACCIF Returns 120 Girls Back to School ……donate Seats, study Materials, Uniforms, others

As part of efforts at reducing the numbers of ‘out of school’ among the ‘Girl Child’ in Nigeria, All Charity International Foundation (ACCIF), on Thursday commissioned a TY Danjuma Foundation 2018 Girl Child Education Project, in Kaduna State.
The project is aimed at enrolling, retaining and completing Secondary School Education for ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY (120) identified GIRL CHILD that cut across the villages in Marke, Nassarawan Doya and Makarfi communities of Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State.
Speaking during the presentation and commissioning, ACCIF Team Leader, Barrister Babatunde Daudu, explained that, “One Hundred & Twenty (120) girl child who are missing out of school have been identified and they will be enrolled back to the classroom.
“The girls will be provided with necessary learning materials (Text Books, Note Books, Writing Materials, School Bags and other school learning
materials.
“The project has made school Learning Desk available which will be donated to the school where the girls will be enrolled back to school courtesy of TY DANJUMA FOUNDATION.”
According to him, the project which is being implemented in Government Secondary School(G.S.S), Makarfi, G.S.S Nassarawan Doya and Government Junior Secondary School, Marke, will among others; enroll 120 girl child who dropped out or missing out of school back to school thereby reducing the challenge of non-attendance of school by the girl child to a barest minimum
in the focus communities.
“Engage the School Based Management Committees (SBMCs) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the community education stakeholders in identifying and profiling families with girls not attending or missing out of school in the three project locations.
“Gather a comprehensive data of number of girl child not attending or who are at the risk of dropping out of school across the three project locations.
“Enhance the Management structure of the three schools to effectively handle issues of girl child education by training teachers on enrolment and retention strategies by education experts, provide learning school desk for the students of the schools especially the girl child.”
Babatunde, noted that “the communities (Marke, Nassarawan Doya and Makarfi) have been supportive from the inception of the project, pre-meetings held with the community leaders, community sensitization on girl child issues,
meetings with parents of identified girl child and actual selection of the girl child who are to be enrolled back to school among others.
He therefore, thank TY Danjuma Foundation for believing in the dreams of the founder of ACCIF, Barrister Ranti Daudu, adding, “indeed it has been a journey of successes and challenges from the proposal writing, proposal approval by the Board of TY Danjuma Foundation, Community Awareness, Advocacies etc.
On her part, representative of Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Jafaru Sanu, Esther Kayock, Director in charge of Female Education, thanked TY Danjuma Foundation and ACCIF for the gesture saying, it would help in solving educational issues especially as it affect girl-child in the state.
She called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity provided by the non-governmental organisations urging them to be good ambassador and attend their class regularly.
Also, Acting District Head Makarfi, Bello Muhammed Sada, who was represented at the commissioning of the project on Thursday by Village Head, Maraban Makarfi, Munir Muhammed Makarfi, thanked the sponsors and promised to ensure the success of the programme.
“We thank these people for what they have brought to our girls in this area. I promise that we will motivate and mobilise parents to give maximum support to ensure our daughters acquire education especially the beneficiaries of this project.
“Before now, poverty is partly responsible for school drop out and even out of school. But I believe this development will spur the parents to send their children to school”, he added.
In the same vein, Chairperson, Federation of International Lawyers Association (FIDA), Barrister Bukola Ajao, warned parents to stop using children especially the girl child as hawkers, which has resulted to them dropping out of school.
She encouraged the girls not to give up on themselves because they have the potentials of becoming lawyers, doctors and any other profession they want to aspire to in life.
