CAMAC Calls for Inclusion, Protection of Nigerian Children on 2026 Children’s Day

The Center for Media Advocacy for Mother and Child (CAMAC) has called on governments, parents, stakeholders, and communities to prioritize the protection, education, health, and inclusion of children as Nigeria marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
In a statement signed by the Executive Director of CAMAC, Alex Uangbaoje, the organization said this year’s Children’s Day theme, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” highlights the urgent need to ensure that no child is left behind regardless of background, gender, disability, religion, or economic status.

Uangbaoje noted that children remain the foundation of every society and deserve access to quality education, healthcare, protection, and opportunities that would help them reach their full potential.
According to him, the celebration should go beyond ceremonies and serve as a reminder of the collective responsibility to address challenges affecting children across the country, including child abuse, poverty, out-of-school syndrome, child labour, early marriage, malnutrition, and violence against children.
“Every child deserves a safe environment where they can learn, grow, dream, and thrive. We must build a society where children are protected and given equal opportunities to succeed,” he stated.
The CAMAC Executive Director also urged policymakers and development partners to strengthen investments in child welfare programmes and ensure the effective implementation of policies that protect children’s rights.
He reaffirmed CAMAC’s commitment to media advocacy and initiatives aimed at promoting the wellbeing of mothers and children across Nigeria.
Nigeria celebrates Children’s Day annually on May 27 to promote awareness about children’s rights, welfare, education, and development.
