2015 Polls: NUJ Prepares Members for Effective Coverage.

In its effort to further prepare it members for an effective, unbiased and objective coverage of the 2015 elections. The Nigeria Union of Journalists Kaduna State council will commence a one days workshop on election reporting.

The workshop with the theme Media Role in Making the 2015 General Elections Violence – Free will take place this Monday 23rd of March.

According to a statement signed by Mallam Idris Yusuf the NUJ council Chairman Kaduna, said that the executive governor of Kaduna state Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero is to declare the workshop open

He said two papers are to be presented by two eminent journalists, the National secretary of NUJ comrade Shu’aibu Usman Leman who will speak on inculcating ethical conduct in reporting elections. While the chairman of Arewa Media Forum Malam Muhammadd Haruna will speak on the role of Journalists in sustaining peace before, during and after General elections.

“There will also be an interactive session where experience on coverage of elections will be shared between participants that were drawn from the public relations unit of the Army, Police, DSS, INEC and other similar organizations that deal with election matters.” The statement said.

“The session is to be led by the Managing Director of Nagarta Radio Kaduna Alhaji Lawal Yusuf Saulawa and Mr.Samson Fagbemi, a chief lecturer with the department of Mass Communication Kaduna Polytechnic.
Dignitaries expected to Grace the occasion includes the President Of NUJ comrade Muhammad Garba who is the host and chairmen of political parties among others.”

He said the workshop will hold at Arewa House Kaduna at 10am.
