The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has pledged to prioritise teachers’ welfare, professional development and capacity building if elected governor in 2027.

Shehu ABG made the commitment in a World Teachers’ Day message congratulating teachers across Kaduna State and Nigeria, describing them as indispensable pillars of nation-building and human development.

The PDP candidate, according to a statement by his Director of Media and Publicity, Yusuf Idris, commended teachers for their dedication and sacrifices despite the challenges confronting the education sector.

He said no meaningful development could be achieved without a strong, motivated and adequately equipped teaching workforce.

“Teachers are the foundation upon which the future of our children and the progress of our society are built. Their commitment, sacrifice and dedication to nation-building must never be taken for granted.”

Shehu ABG promised that his administration would improve teachers’ working conditions, strengthen their professional capacity and create an environment where they could discharge their responsibilities effectively and with dignity.

He also pledged to place education at the centre of his administration, with emphasis on upgrading learning infrastructure, improving teaching and learning environments and tackling challenges affecting educational quality across the state.

According to him, sustained investment in education remains critical to Kaduna’s future, as a strong education system would equip young people with the knowledge, skills and values required to compete in a rapidly changing world.

The PDP candidate urged teachers to remain committed to their profession and continue serving as role models to the younger generation.

He wished teachers greater recognition, improved welfare and renewed strength, while reaffirming his commitment to a Kaduna where education is prioritised, teachers are valued and every child has access to quality learning opportunities.
