Kaduna Kidnappings: Silence Betrays Victims, Group Tells Government

By Uangbaoje Alex, Kaduna

The Eagle Brain Human Rights Organization has condemned the recent wave of kidnappings across Kaduna State, accusing the government and political actors of maintaining a disturbing silence over the plight of abducted residents.

The organisation, in a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Comrade Daniel Ejembi, said farmers, traders, women, children and breadwinners had been abducted, while affected families were allegedly being pushed into financial hardship by ransom demands.

Ejembi questioned the absence of a public response from the Kaduna State Government, asking why there had been no statement from the governor or other government officials on the reported attacks.

He also criticised government appointees, political supporters, religious leaders and social media commentators who, according to him, are often vocal on political matters but have remained silent over the security situation.

“Your silence is a betrayal. History is watching,” the group declared, accusing those in authority of placing political and personal interests above the protection of citizens.

The organisation further challenged the government to match its political mobilisation and social media activity with concrete action to protect communities affected by kidnapping.

It demanded an immediate public statement condemning the attacks, deployment of security personnel to affected communities and an urgent plan to rescue all abducted residents.

The group also called for government support for families of kidnapping victims, saying many were being left to bear the emotional and financial burden of the attacks alone.

“Security is not a privilege, it is the first duty of government. Failure to protect lives is failure of leadership,” Ejembi said.

The organisation warned that citizens were watching developments closely, insisting that the government would ultimately be judged by its response to the security crisis.

“Enough of the silence!” it declared.
