The Managing Director, Kaduna Refineries and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed has called on its host communities to disregard any propaganda perpetuated against the company by those he called “misinformed citizens” as KRPC is more concerned about the environmental impacts of it host communities.
According to him they are not only misinformed but they are also mischievous who are trying a hedge in the cordial relations that exist between the company and its host communities.
Mohammed who made the remarks during the kick off of immunisation/de-worming for KPRC host communities at Rido Village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna was represented by Adolphous Ezeribe, Executive Director Operation KRPC said such people are doing it for their selfish reasons, adding that KRPC will always give heed to environmental impact activities especially vas affect its host communities.
He urged the host communities to continue to join hands with KRPC so that “together we shall to reap the fruits our neighbourly cooperation”. Saying KRPC Will continue to adhere to international best practices in its operations and will never do anything that will harm its neighbours.
“The sight of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers as well as babies and children from surrounding communities here this morning has made nonsense of their spurious claims that our operations causes infertility in our host communities”.
“Today we are kick starting a vaccination programme against such deadly diseases as measles, whooping cough, hepatitis, pneumonia, tetanus, diphtheria, haemopholus and influenza type B targeted at eight thousand (8000) babies, children, pregnant women and the de-worming of the same number of adult men and women as well as children.”
“It could be recalled that in 2013 we carried out the same vaccination programme against cerebrospinal meningitis at which time we succeeded in vaccinating over six thousand (6000) people in our host communities. Thus exercise is an expansion of that effort in 2013 and I want to assure our host communities that they will continue to enjoy a priority place in all our activities.” Mohammed explains.
Responding at the occasion, the village head of Rido community, Alhaji Aruna Hamisu pledged his continued support to KRPC and ensures that his people always support all KRPC’s efforts at providing its corporate social responsibilities to its host communities.
Some of the women who spoke at the event thanked KRPC for all its contributions to their communities and appeals for more of its service in their area.
