A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Kogi State, Honourable Seidu Shuaib, yesterday gave reasons why the people of the state have thrown their weight behind the party and its gubernatorial candidate Prince Abubakar Audu.
Shuaib a former House of Representatives aspirant, Dekina/Bassa Federal constituency, in the State under the APC, told newsmen in Kaduna that unlike Prince Abubakar who has a track record of performance behind him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate has nothing to show the people of the state.
The APC stalwart said the people have turned their back against PDP for long and that is why, “even with a sitting Governor of the PDP, the APC that was an opposition then won the Presidential election in the state”.
On the gubernatorial polls he said “What Prince Abubakar Audu did in the life and History of Kogi State as at today no government after him, and not in the lifespan of the whole Peoples Democratic Party tenure can boost of anything like that.
” Let me start with the Obajana industry that have employed many of our people, it is the handwork of Prince Abubakar Audu, Kogi State Polytechnic is the hand work of Audu. Kogi State university is also the handwork of Audu. As am talking to you if you go into the local government areas the rural people will tell you this road was built by Audu, this one was built by Audu.
“Please tell me any landmark in Kogi State that the PDP government over the years can point to as their achievement.”He asked.
Shuaib said, “That is why we are talking to our people, this is the man we need to come and rescue us from the years of underdevelopment and neglect.”
On the allegation of corruption levelled against the APC candidate, he said “no human being is perfect, but I must tell you that when someone is doing good and the people are hailing him, your opponents will look for anything to hand on your neck and say this person is not perfect as people are saying.
“But the fact of the matter remains that Prince Audu is a performer and the people have decided he is the one they want. PDP is just looking for anything to hold on to. Let me ask if the PDP government has not performed as everyone is saying and even them too know just that they don’t want to say it publicly, what happened to the allocation. May be they can tell us.
“Former Governor Ibrahim Idris was in power what can he point to as his achievement, even Governor Wada has nothing to show the people, so it is time for him to go. But when Audu was in power people all over the country knew what was happening in Kogi State. We need Audu to come back. “He said.
