By Uangbaoje Alex, Kaduna
The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) has elected a new Kaduna State Coordinator, with Hope for Village Child Foundation (HVCF) staff member Ruth Barrera emerging to lead the coalition’s education advocacy efforts.
Barrera emerged from the coalition’s 2026 general election held on October 1, following a process members described as peaceful and guided by transparency, inclusiveness and internal democracy.
In her acceptance remarks, the new coordinator pledged to prioritise policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement and community impact, while strengthening collaboration with civil society organisations and government institutions to improve education outcomes across Kaduna State.

She said CSACEFA remained open to partnerships with organisations and government agencies committed to advancing education in the state.
The outgoing coordinator, Henry Michael, congratulated Barrera and pledged his support for a smooth transition. He also assured members that ongoing programmes would continue without interruption.
Members pledged their cooperation with the incoming leadership, expressing hope that the new administration would expand the coalition’s visibility and strengthen its advocacy for improved access to quality education across Kaduna State.
