Wamakko Donates N70 million Financial assistance to 641 Leather processors

Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State has donated 70 million Naira financial assistance to 641 persons engaged in Leather processing and dyeing industries in Sokoto State, those who benefited are artisans in the state.

The financial assistance, which was distributed to the traders union on Friday, under the watchful eyes of their trade union leaders at the state Government House, Supervised by the state Commissioner for Health and Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu.

Speaking during the distribution, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the assistance so that others can also benefit from such gesture in the future.

He said Sokoto state people should be grateful to God, for giving them a leader like Governor Wamakko who has consistently made efforts through various means to uplift the living standard of the people through different empowerment programmes.

He added that ” A government that doesn’t care to empower its peoples is not worth a government, and it is the desire of Governor Aliyu to liberate the teeming youth of the state from idleness through which youth restiveness can be curbed in the state.

He said recently, the governor, gave over three million naira to the leather processing union to purchase equipment for the modernization of their factory, adding that, this is just the beginning.

“By the time the new government comes to power, we will continue from where governor Aliyu stopped and we will bring your children and grand children to you to learn this trade from you and still pay you and them stipends to encourage you until you are all liberated from idleness.

The health commissioner, said, government has evolve ways to monitor the beneficiaries, to ensure they make judicious use of the gesture through their various heads of trade unions.

Speaking earlier, on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman of the Sokoto Traders Association, Alhaji Kabiru Hali who expressed appreciation to the governor for his kind gesture and praised him for the many assistance he has rendered the traders in the state.

He said, the governor has empower many youth in diverse trade, stressing that, those the governor empowered in the trade of making matresses and shoes have being producing and selling the products outside Sokoto state, which has build a good reputation for Sokoto state outside the state.

Each of the beneficiaries would get not less than a hundred thousand naira, depending on the number of persons in their sub-union.

May of them present at the venue of the distribution were visibly happy and expressed appreciation to the governor for the kind gesture, as many of them promised to make good use of the assistance.
