UCL: Chelsea’ll stop PSG in London – Mikel

John Obi Mikel says Chelsea were disappointed to lose against Paris Saint-Germain, but that the away goal they scored will help them in the return leg.

The Nigerian cancelled out Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s opener, but the second half belonged to PSG, who will go back to Stamford Bridge with a slim advantage after Edinson Cavani’s deserved winner.

Mikel brought down Lucas Moura five yards outside of the box for a free kick, and Zlatan hammered it home for the opener as it deflected off the midfielder.

“I had to fall in because he [Lucas] was going deeper and deeper into our 18-yard box,” Mikel told BT Sport.

“I had to — if not get the ball — foul him, which I did. And then the free kick as well just skipped off my feet and went into the back of the net.

“But we came back strong as well, but we’re very disappointed to have lost the game.

“We know they’re a very good team. Our aim was to come out here and get a goal and we’ve done that tonight. We still have the second leg to play back home, so we have to take that back home and capitalise on that and make sure we build on that.”
