He expressed this while speaking as the chairman of the occasion at the unveiling of Kada City FC, at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Thursday, February 22, 2018.
Represented by the Chairman Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba, he told Hunkuyi that in Kaduna politics, he would always be a winner.
“The Eight Senate, having realized the huge role sports plays on youth development created conducive platforms for sports development in the country, and Distinguished Senator Hunkuyi being part of the 8th Assembly is now leading the race,” he said.
The Senator infirmed that two bills that will greatly transform the fortunes of sports in the country are still undergoing processes in the National Assembly.
“It may interest you to note that just yesterday the bill for an act to establish a National Youth Development Commission passed second reading on the floor of the Senate, while the bill for the university of sports passed first reading,” he said.
He commended Senator Hunkuyi for the noble idea of setting up a football club and academy, assuring him of provision of the technical, legal and institutional framework needed to strengthen the football outfit.
“For the youths gathered here today, I challenge you to make good use of this wonderful opportunity,” he advised.
He said Nigeria is endowed with lots of talent and one of the most effective way to harness them is through grassroots sporting activities.
“I have no doubt that within the shortest possible time, this football club/academy will produce the likes of Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Jayhay Okocha, Mutiu Adepoju, Kau Nwankwo, Rashhed Yekini and so on,” he stressed
Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Honourable Aminu Maigari advised the team to focus on developing more talents in Kaduna, while assuring that they will all support the team.
