Tambuwal declared winner in Sokoto guber race

The outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, and governorship candidate of the All Progressives, Congress APC, in Sokoto state, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has been declared winner of the Sokoto state governorship contest by the state Collation Officer, Professor Abubakar Bagudo of the Usman Dan Fodio University at the State Collation centre on Sunday.
Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal scored more votes than any contestants in all the 23 local government areas of the state. In the April 11 Governorship and House of Assembly election, as announced by the State Collation Officer, Professor Abubakar Bagudau of the Usman Dan Fodio University at the State Collation centre.
Tambuwal scored a total votes of 647,609 of the total valid votes of; 926,681, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Alhaji Abdallah Wali who was the closest contender in the contest, scored a total votes of 269,074.
The candidate of APA, Alhaji Ahmed Jawo, garnered the third highest votes with a total votes of 2905 votes while the candidate of APGA Alhaji Muhammed Bello, scored a total votes of 1,571 and the only female contestant and candidate of PPA Hajiya Salamatu Abdullahi, scored a total of 1,163 while Accord party scored the lowest vote with, pulling only a total of 47 votes.
Alhaji Bello Abubakar of AA scored 111 votes, while Alhaji Aliyu Baba Goronyo of ACPN, got 265 votes, Suleiman Mohammed of AD scored 403 while Suleiman Mikailu of CPP garnered 874 Alhaji Ibrahim Babajo of ID pulled a total of 374 votes and Aliyu Hussaini of LP got 272 votes, Alhaji Sidi Al-Mustapha Ahmed of NCP scored 243 votes and Alhaji Yahaya Ibrahim of NNPP pulled a total of 301 votes.
Others political parties with candidates in the election include Alhaji Aminu Tankwa of the PDC who scored 442 votes and Alhaji Nasiru Larabawa of the PPN won 211 votes while SDP scored 118 votes and UDP gathered 155 votes while UPN 136 and UPP scored 123 votes.
Sokoto state has total registered voters of; 1677,509 and a total number of the accredited voters in the governorship election was, 1025285, total rejected votes was 32054 and total valid votes amount to,926,682 while the total vote cast was calculated to be 958,736 votes.
All the party agents present at the collation centre signed the declared results by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
