President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Hon. Honour Sirawoo has informed that any award given to individuals or corporate organizations by his association is recognized, not only everywhere in Nigeria, but internationally the world over.

He expressed this while speaking in Kaduna on Saturday, at the 2016 Kaduna SWAN WEEK Awards/Fund Raising, held at the Kabir Gymnasium.

Sirawoo, who was full of praises for Kaduna SWAN, told the awardees that they were not just lucky, but must have contributed meaningfully to the development of sports in the state in particular, and Nigeria in general.

Speaking further, he said that Kaduna SWAN has set a new record by being the only chapter that has attracted all the chairmen of state chapters from its zone during its annual WEEK.

Speaking further, he said that SWAN  was founded in 1964 as the technical arm of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) that specializes in sports reporting.

“You are honoured by SWAN which is not only recognized in Nigeria, but across the world.,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, one of the recipients, Barrister Aishatu Sule who is the proprietor of Kabir Gymnasium said she was happy that her meritorious service to the nation is been recognized by a respected body like SWAN.

“We have contributed to the nation and served during our active years. Then we were serving without expecting monetary returns in millions of Naira as expected today. We pray for more awards of this nature, and for more support for SWAN,” she said.

The Awards/Funs Raising was the climax of events for the SWAN WEEK which featured sporting competitions.

The event was supported by Kabir Gymnasium, Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc, AUTHENTIC News Daily and Engineer Musa Nimrod.
