By Our Correspondent

A member of House of Representatives representing Akure North/South Federal Constituency, Ondo State, Southwest, Nigeria and Vice Chairman, House Committee on Poverty Alleviation, Hon Adedayo Omolafe has denied rumour of deputy governorship ambition for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in his state.

Popularly knowns as “Expensive” Omolafe who was a MHR elected on the platform of the the major opposition party in the country, the Peoples Democratic Party was a council boss of Akure South Local Government Area. He was elected a member of the House of Representatives in the last general election in the country.

Making his position known in a press statement titled ”
My Rumoured Deputy Governorship Ambition: A Joke Taken Too Far”

Omolafe said “My attention have been drawn to a rumour flying around especially on social media and online platforms on my purported ambition as a possible Deputy Governorship candidate of our great party.

“I would have ignored such baseless and unfounded allegations but for the purpose of setting the record straight and unsuspecting public.

“I have received numerous calls and messages from friends, political associates, party faithfuls and the general public on the authentication of the unfounded story”

Describing the rumour as a figment of the imagination of the author, he said “I want to state unequivocally that story is untrue and a figment of the imagination of the author. I enjoined the Leaders and members of our great Party to consider the story as a joke taken too far by whoever is behind the campaign of calumny aimed at distracting our party in preparation for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

“We must be wary of fifth columnists who are bent on sowing the seed of discord among us; the nepotists with perverse minds who are bent on keeping our party divided. They want to do everything possible to see us always at daggers with each other as part of their grand plan to keep us off track.

“However, I wish to reemphasize that I am currently preoccupied with the social contract of qualitative representation of the good people of Akure North and South Federal Constituency.

“I have made a solemn vow to ensure that we lift our people from abject poverty and give them a new lease of life. I have therefore pledge to remain committed to this vow without looking back.

“I reaffirm my loyalty to our great part and its resolve to ensure that party present a credible candidate that will give us a resounding victory at the poll through a credible, democratic and transparent primary election at the due time.
I will continue to work for the upliftment and collective good of the people of my constituency.

“We have set our hands on the plough and we will not look back under any guise.
