Obaseki, Ize-Iyamu Don’t Mean Well For Edo, Pedro Alleges

Don Pedro Osaro Obaseki, the governorship flag bearer of the Accord Party in Edo State, has said that Godwin Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, and Pastor Ize-Iyamu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) flag bearer, do not mean well for Edo people.
Don Pedro who spoke in an interview in Benin said, “I don’t have anything against anybody.

Whether Godwin Obaseki or Osagie Ize-Iyamu. The two of them are my first cousins, one from my grandmother side and the other from my grandfather side. They were close to me. At least Godwin was close to me at a time but I know that he doesn’t mean well for the Edo person.

“That’s the truth and I have made it clear to him. For Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the sheer inordinate pursuit is worrisome. I am presenting myself as an alternative,” he stated.

He promised to spread development in the state on his assumption of office from November 12, 2016.

He affirmed that his manifesto for governance of the state was based on the acronym, EDO, which stands for Education, Development and Opportunities for all and sundry.

The acclaimed filmmaker in an exclusive chat with Independent stressed that he offered himself for service to the people of the state based on his maxim to better the living standard of the people.

“My manifesto is based on the acronym, EDO. When you educate, you employ people you empower them. Therefore, for me E is empowerment.

“Then development doesn’t have to be roads. Roads that are built without people with the right human capital development to use it are zero. My D is development.

“When you develop a place and you empower the people and you don’t give them the enabling environment for business to thrive, those are the opportunities.

“So, my own is EDO – Empowerment for Development and the creation of Opportunities for Edo people,” he disclosed.

He stated that he had different programmes in the health sector but that he would focus more on the agriculture sector. He added that the state is blessed with fertile land “and yet we are hungry because people have left it.”

On his reasons for dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Accord Party, Don Pedro said that he took the option on discovering that the gubernatorial primary process was skewed in favour of an anointed candidate.
