Nigerian Breweries Is Revamping Education In The North – Manager

As part of its corporate social responsibilities to its host community, the
Nigerian Breweries plc said it has spent over 100 milion naira on education in the Northern part of Nigeria in line with the educational needs of the region in the last five years.
The Breweries Regional Manager Mr. Adebolu Obawole disclosed this during a road walk show for campaign on education organised in Kaduna.
Adebolu said the company is revamping the educational structures of the North so as to produce quality children with sound academic and moral intellectual background to help them prepare for the future as they are the leaders of tomorrow.
The programme with the theme “Brew a better future ” is an initiative of
Heineken worldwide in support of sustainability of the environment in
the area of water and energy conservation among others.
He told the crowd that this year’s programme is
focused on education so that the children can be part of it in order to create an atmosphere for them to learn effectively for a
better future, adding “teachers must do more to support the student in their academic cum social cultural upbringing this is why today we have come
with hundreds of books, writing materials and teaching materials to
support the school, this class room block was also built by the
Nigerian Breweries and today we shall also repaint it to give it a new
look’’
The manager who spoke at Government Secondary School Makera, Kaduna South,
local Government area. Led over 800 students and staff of the school, staff of the Nigerian Breweries Plc, traditional rulers, Business women and children from other neighbouring
schools within Makera community.
Adebolu who could not hide his feelings, applauded the effort of Alhaji Danjuma Musa Village head of
Down Quarters who also doubles as the school Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA) chairman for painstakingly making concerted efforts in bringing WAEC exams Center to the school.
Responding on behalf of the PTA, Alhaji
Danjuma Musa stressed that ‘’we have written to the ministry
and they have given us criteria for providing the school with WAEC
center, which includes halls, laboratories and Library. The PTA build
examination hall and classrooms to serve as library. We are now going
back to the Government through the ministry of Education to inform
them of our efforts because a school like this deserve a WAEC center.”
“So if you will permit me to use this medium to call on the State
Government to come in and assist us we will also be glad’’
He however commended the Nigerian Breweries for their unalloyed support
for education in the North through building of classrooms block and
supply of teaching materials and writing materials.
Also speaking, the Vice Principal Academics who stood in for the
principal Mrs. Esther S. Andrew thanked the Nigerian Brewery for their show of support for Education urging other companies to emulate the legendry style of the Nigerian Breweries.
