New Nigerian Online Editor Buries Mother, as Benue Methodist Arch Bishop Pours Encomium

The Online Editor of New Nigerian Newspapers, on Saturday finally laid his late mother Mrs. Dickson who passed on at the age of 61 on November 16, 2018 to rest.

The Arch Bishop of Benue Diocese, Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Reverend Oliver Aba, who officiated the lying in state, urged women of the diocese, Christians and Nigerians in general, to emulate the virtues of late Mrs. Cecilia Onyinje Dickson.

He said this while delivering the sermon at the funeral service of the deceased at the Norcross Methodist Cathedral, Otukpo at the weekend.


He said that from the testimony he heard about the deceased, she was a woman of peace, who touched several lives.

“Our late sister was a virtuous woman. She lived an exemplary life, filled with humility, service to humanity and rare charity,” he said.

Speaking further, the Methodist Benue Arch Bishop said that the deceased was a faithful Christian, who influenced many positively.

Earlier in his remarks, the Norcross Cathedral Presbyter, Very Reverend M.M. Abogye said that the church would really miss the absence of Mrs. Dickson.

“The void she has created would be difficult to fill. We pray God consoles the immediate family and the Methodist Church.

After the service, a long convoy of vehicles conveyed the remains of the deceased to her father’s compound, where she was interred beside his grave.

Earlier on Thursday, thousands of family, friends and church members converged at the family resident in Otukpo GRA for the Service of Songs, which lasted till the early hours of Friday.

She was born on October 2, 1957.
