Labour Bill Pass Second Reading At Senate
A bill for an Act to establish the National Commission for Conciliation and Arbitration, National Labour Council and the Office of the Registrar of Trade Unions, yesterday passed second reading at the Senate.
In a lead debate, sponsor of the bill, Senator Suleman Nazif (Bauchi North) said the bill if passed into law will address the incessant strikes being experienced in the country as well as strengthen the law labour.
He said Nigeria loses a lot of resources and time as a result of incessant strikes and needed robust , impartial and flexible legislation to address it.
Nazif noted that the new bill which is aimed at repelling the existing labour Law enacted in 1976, was necessary to address the lapses in the administration of Labour Laws.
