Kaduna TUC Backs Uba Sani, Demands Reinstatement of 83 Disengaged Workers

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Kaduna State Council, has passed a vote of confidence in Governor Uba Sani, praising his administration for what it described as improved workers’ welfare, job security and industrial harmony.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued on Friday at the end of the TUC State Executive Council’s emergency meeting held at the union’s secretariat in Millennium City, Kaduna.
The union cited the reinstatement of 37 staff of the Kaduna State Local Government Service Commission, improved promotion processes, payment of salaries as and when due, workers’ training programmes and the resuscitation of the Civil Service Welfare Loan Scheme among the administration’s key achievements.
It also commended the state’s free CNG luxury bus scheme, saying it had reduced transportation difficulties and costs for workers while improving punctuality and productivity. The TUC, however, appealed to the governor to extend the scheme to Zaria and Kafanchan.
Despite its strong endorsement of the administration, the union presented fresh demands, including the implementation of consequential adjustments for core civil servants.
The TUC also called for the reinstatement of 83 workers of KADIRS, KASUPDA and other agencies, whom it said were wrongfully disengaged in 2019. According to the union, the affected workers secured favourable decisions at the National Industrial Court in Kaduna.
The union expressed particular concern that 13 of the 83 affected workers have died since their disengagement, urging the government to address the matter in the interest of justice and fairness.
The communiqué, signed by TUC Kaduna State Chairperson, Comrade Abdullahi A. DanFulani, and Secretary, Comrade Abdullah Y. Mohammed, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to peaceful and constructive engagement with the Kaduna State Government.
The TUC said it would continue to cooperate with the administration and relevant authorities to promote workers’ rights, justice, fairness and inclusive governance in the state.
