The Kaduna Basic Education Accountability Mechanism (KADBEAM) has mourned the death of its Co-Chair, Madam Rahila Isyaku Baita, describing her passing as a painful loss to the platform and the wider civil society community.
Rahila died on Thursday evening, October 22, 2026, at a hospital in Kaduna.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the KADBEAM leadership, Hajiya Hafsat Ibrahim said the late Co-Chair was a pillar of the accountability platform who dedicated her time, experience and voice to advancing quality basic education for every child in Kaduna State.

She said Rahila’s commitment to evidence-based advocacy, steady leadership and cordial relationships with colleagues made her a valued member of the platform.
“Many of us learnt from her steady leadership, her insistence on evidence and her warmth towards everyone she worked with,” the statement said.
KADBEAM said her death would be deeply felt by members of the platform and the broader civil society community, particularly those working to strengthen accountability and improve public services.
Beyond her role in KADBEAM, Rahila also served as Chairperson of the Evidence Committee of the Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM), extending her contributions to accountability efforts in the state.
The KADBEAM leadership extended its condolences to her family, friends and colleagues, as well as members of KADMAM, while praying for strength for them to bear the loss.
The platform said details of her funeral arrangements would be communicated as soon as they became available.
