By Alex Uangbaoje, Kaduna
Gubernatorial Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Honourable Isa Ashiru and Yakubu Barde, a member Representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has condemned the brutal killing of the Agom Adara (Traditional Ruler of Adara Chiefdom), His Royal Highness Dr Maiwada Galadima, by unknown persons.
They however called for calm and peaceful coexistence among the people in the State, in their separate statements made available to journalists in Kaduna on Friday.
Ashiru, describes the abduction and subsequent assassination of the Chief as the ugliest form of criminality which should be condemned by all reasonable and peace-loving people, adding that, the acts have shown the level to which some merciless people could descend on their bid to inflict pains on fellow humans.
While he condoles with the family of the deceased and the entire people of Adara Chiefdom, he also calls for immediate and thorough investigation with a view to bringing the perpetrators of the act to book.
The PDP Gubernatorial Candidate particularly urges the relevant authorities, security agencies and community leaders to continue to adopt effective measures towards the restoration of normalcy.
Right Honourable Isa Mohammed Ashiru appeals to all the communities in Kaduna State to continue to unite among themselves in order to fight the forces of evil that are bent on creating and sustaining crises in the State.
On his part, Barde, described the action of the criminals who are yet to be identified and apprehended, as cruel and gruesome, saying, “this is indeed very unfortunate and horrific.”
It will be recalled that the revered Traditional Ruler of the Adara Kingdom was recently kidnapped along with his wife. In the attack by the perpetrators, some of the Agom’s aides lost their lives. The incidence was widely condemned by well meaning Nigerians along with a call to security agencies to rescue the Traditional Ruler and his wife along with all those in captivity with him.
“It is with a heavy heart filled with sadness that I mourn The Agom Adara whose remains was said to have been found around Kateri, along Kaduna abuja express way.
“To say that I am deeply shocked at the killing is an understatement. I believe that there is no justification for such barbaric act. Those behind this and indeed similar incidences are the cancer of our society and must be cut off. These criminals are indeed and in all ramifications sub-human.
“The Agom Adara was a melting point of all peace loving people of Kaduna state. For his life to have been taken in such gruesome manner calls for sober reflection. It calls for collective condemnation by lovers of peace in Kaduna in particular and Nigeria in General. He added.
According to him, “the senseless and gruesome murder is also a wake up call to our leaders; Political, Traditional and Religious. We must be collective in condenming the act and to discourage all forms of reprisal actions from followers and subjects.
“May I also plead with all opinion leaders, moulders and influencers to drop aside all sentiments and find a rallying point of reason. We must reason with our followership and subjects and spread a message of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in Kaduna and all of Nigeria.
“Government must ensure fairness. It should and must keep our security agencies on their toes to live up to their responsibility and duty of protecting the innocent and bringing criminals and those who encourage them to justice. These will go a long way in fostering sustainable peace in our society.
“To politicians, may I seize this opportunity to admonish us not to over heath an already heated polity. We should put partisan affiliation aside and discourage/change the negative narratives currently on the lips of many citizens and residents. Nobody should attempt to or indeed make political capital out of a clearly senseless crisis that should be condemned by all.”
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and healing for the injured, adding, “I also urge residents and indigenes of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Contituency and indeed Kaduna State whom I know to be peace loving not allow this unfortunate incidence to provoke them to breaking of the laws and disrespect for constituted authority. I urge you all to pray and hold the peace for this too shall come to pass.
“I am in constant commuincation with His Excellency The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El Rufai and that there is an assurance that the government is ontop of the situation and will do everything within the law to protect lives and property of all citizens who abide by the law.
“I sincerely commiserate with the Kaduna State Government, The good people of Adara Kingdom, the immediate and extended family of the late Agom Adara and indeed all of humanity for this huge loss.”
