Kaduna state governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has saved over N1.2Billion in less than three months of his administration, from its recent policies of blocking leakages and cutting cost of running the goveernment.

The Special Adviser, Political to the Governor Alhaji Uba Sani, made this disclosure while speaking to journalists in Kaduna.

He said the money was recovered from the free essential commodities, like rice millets, maize, sugar, groundnut oil etc which was being shared to some wealthy people in the state during every Ramadan Fasting, Sallah and Christmas period.

According to him, over N500m each was recovered in both festivity gifts and pilgrimage seats that government sponsors every year, adding that the rest was from the bio-metric exercise of government workers and the voluntary cutting of salaries by political office holder’s.

“Before the coming of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, Kaduna state government was running on N100m deficit every month. After the payment of salaries and overhead costs , the state will not be able to do anything again because there is no money. No capital projects from anywhere.

“All the measures that has been introduced by the governor is people’s oriented projects and I can assure you that anybody that is making noise about the governor’s programmes so far is only trying to score cheap political publicity. You know that the governor has initiated a lot of things but they are not talking about that because they want the children of the poor to remain poor in the state.

“You are also aware that the governor approved free education from primary to JSS3 as well as free feeding.
About 100,000 students will be distributed with custom built iPads that will enable them assess all text books and other school materials.

“Before the coming of Governor El-Rufai virtually all primary and scondary schools in the state have no furnitures, but these money he recovered will be channelled in providing such facilities in our schools.

“Those who have taken Kaduna state two decades backwards are the ones making noise about demolition of houses in Kaduna.

“They were the same people that the state trained with good conducive atmosphere in their schools days, but the only way they could pay back is to dubiously collect schools and hospitals premises and render them dillapidated because their children are not schooling in this country neither are their families visit the public hospitals,” he said‎
