As part of efforts to strengthen the security agencies in stamping out crimes in Kaduna State, the state Government has donated 107 Hilux patrol vehicles and 230 bullet proof vests to the police and other security agencies.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP),  Solomon Arase while commissioning the the vehicles at the Kaduna government house said, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai was determined to stamp out crimes from the state.

He however commended the Governor for donating 107 patrol vehicles and 230 bullet proof vests to the police and other security agencies in the State, promising to put them to judicious use.

According to IGP, “for Governor El-Rufai to use the State resources to procure such laudable items showed that he was determined to stamp out crimes from the State.

“The police will live up to expectation by doubling efforts to stamping out crimes in the state and use the items judiciously”. He said.

Earlier, Governor El-Rufai said his administration’s partnership with security agencies in the State has yielded positive results in the last six months by rooting out criminals,  particularly cattle rustlers from forests that have boundaries with neighbouring States.

El-Rufai, however appealed to Inspector General of Police to boost the police force in the State with additional 7,000 policemen, in addition to current figure of 13,000 which he said represented only five percent of the country’s police population.

He said Kaduna State was lucky to have the best brain police posted to it over the years.

He said, “We thanked security agencies for making Kaduna safer in the last six years.

“We need more police men in Kaduna because we have 13,000 police in the State which is about 5% of the country’s police population. So we need additional 7,000 policemen.

“The people in the State must all remain vigilant in order to live in peace and harmony”. He said.
