Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday raided the office of immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Namadi Sambo located in the Central Area of Abuja according to a report by Nigerian Times.

An unimpeachable source at the anti-graft agency told this paper that the office of the number two man in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan was ransacked by operatives of the commission as part of the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s anti-corruption war.

The source said the operatives in their numbers turned the office upside down as they searched for documents including those detailing bank transactions, which they took away.

The source further disclosed that the former Vice President was not in the office at the time it was invaded by the operatives and failed to disclose if the raid had the blessing of President Buhari.

“I cannot tell you whether clearance for the raid came all the way from the top but what is certain is that there is some sort of investigation going on,” the source stated.

The source also did not disclose whether an official invitation would be extended to Alhaji Sambo as part of the ongoing investigation.

“It is early days yet and so I cannot tell you categorically whether he’ll be invited for question any time soon”.
