Edo Assembly lifts Former Speaker’s Suspension
Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, yesterday, performed her first assignment amidst tight security and lifted the three months suspension placed on the ex-Speaker, Victor Edoror.
Victor Edoror Both policemen and Department of State Services, DSS, operatives took over the Assenbly premises, following rumour that thugs were going to invade the House. As proceedings commenced, the Clerk of the House, Mr Lawson Ugiagbe, administered the oath of allegiance on Ativie after which the Deputy Speaker, Mr Justin Okonobo, was sworn in by the Speaker.
Proceedings went on without hitches as the Speaker announced the reconstitution of the Principal Officers Council, POC.
The position of the Majority Leader was retained by Mr Foly Ogedengbe (APC Owan East), the Chief Whip went to Mr Kabiru Adjoto (APC Akoko-Edo 1), Deputy House Leader, Mr Henry Okhuorobo (APC Ikpoba Okhai), Minority Leader, Patrick Iluobe (PDP Esan North East 1) while the member representing Egor, Crosby Eribo became a co-opted member of the POC.
