Crisis Looms as Edo APC suspends Osagie, Omorotionwa, 38 others
A major crisis may hit the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the party has ratified the suspension of some leaders of the party in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the state including a former Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Mr Samson Osagie, a former Chairman of the Local Government, Rolland Alari, Josef Omorotionwa and 27 others for alleged anti-party activities.
Their suspension was ratified in a letter signed by the state Secretary of the APC, Chief Osaro Idah.
The party leaders were alleged to have worked against their party in the September 28, 2016 governorship election.
But one of the suspended party leaders, Omorotionwa, described the action as “illegal, null and void and of no effect”.
He stated: “We have called on our followers to remain calm because the truth will be known soon”.
The Uhumwonde chapter of the APC, led by its Chairman, Harrison Oyegue, had suspended the leaders in a meeting held in November last year.
