Court Returns Sheriff as PDP Valid Chairman
Federal High Court on Thursday affirmed Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff, a former Governor of Borno State, as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Justice Okon Abang declared Sheriff the PDP National Chairman based on a motion before him by Sheriff and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, which had been pronounced dissolved at the National Convention of the party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The National Convention also appointed Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former Governor of Kaduna State, to head an Interim National Committee to lead the party.
But Justice Abang said on Thursday that since two court orders in Lagos and Abuja affirming Sheriff as National Chairman were still subsisting before another faction rushed to Port-Harcourt to get another order of the Court to back the convention that produced Makarfi, it could not stand.
