BREAKING: PDP Chair, Adamu Mu’azu, “resigning”

BREAKING: PDP Chair,
Adamu Mu’azu,
“resigning”

Barring any last minute
change of heart, the National
Chairman of Nigeria’s
embattled ruling Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP,
Adamu Mu’azu will resign
from his position today.
A source close to Mr. Mu’azu
said the chairman was
advised by his close friends
and associates at a meeting
which held Tuesday night in
Abuja to resign.
Indications that he had told
members of the party’s
National Working Committee,
NWC, of his decision,
emerged early Wednesday
when the spokesperson of the
party, Olisa Metuh, told
reporters at the party’s head
office in Abuja to expect a
“breaking news” briefing
from him later in the day.
The NWC is currently holding
a meeting at Wadata Plaza
and Mr. Metuh is expected to
address the press after the
meeting.
Our source also said apart
from Mr. Mu’azu, the
chairman of the party’s
board of trustees, Tony
Anenih, is also resigning
today.
The PDP has been enmeshed
in crisis since losing the
presidential election which
held March 28.
The party also lost most of its
states especially in the north
to the All Progressives
Congress, APC.
The APC has also snatched the
majority number of seat in
the two chambers of the
National Assembly.
Top members of the party
including Governors have
been calling on the NWC
members to resign their
positions for leading the
party to its most disastrous
outing since 1998.
Mr. Metuh had two weeks ago
said the crisis of the party
was over, at the intervention
of President Jonathan.
