AYF President, Gujungu Appointed IPAYP Speaker

The Independent Pan African Youth Parliament (IPAYP) an umbrella body for all youth civil society organizations in Africa has appointed the National President of the Arewa Youth Forum, (AYF) Comrade Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu as their speaker.

Gujungu a prominent youths activist in Nigeria was appointed for his experience in youth activism spanning years across the country and beyond.

IPAYP which is committed to the development and advancement of the African Youth agenda, had now mandated Gujungu and others in the parliament to speak and strive to put youth issues on the front burner at all times.

As a civil society voice aligned to the Pan African Youth Parliament and the African Youth Commission, Gujungu and other members of the parliament have now been saddled with the responsibility of “advocating and lobbying for the Africa of our dreams in global platforms”.

The letter of the appointment signed by Ambassador Obinna Sixtus Nwoke, Global President Independent Pan African Youth Parliament said the principal officials are to, “harness and spearhead the development of thinking on issues affecting youth on the continent”.

He said “We are also committed to harnessing resources and form partnerships for cooperation and development of the continent.

“As a civil organisation, with the sole purpose to align discussions, thinking and deliberations in line with the African Youth Charter, we stand to represent  the African youth on any platform where policies affecting the continent are convened.

“We are into, Youth Development and Empowerment, Advocacy and Countering Violent Extremism. Promoting engagement with African Diaspora.

“We are also into Education Solution/Agriculture/ Rural Economy, Human Resource Development International Relations and Good Governance”

By the appointments, IPAYP aims to “strengthens initiatives for the empowerment of the youth and invest in leadership, promotion of economic empowerment,  innovation and skills developments.

“We will also promote actions in countering violent extremism among youth, young women and girls”.

On his part, Gujungu said, the appointment will enable him and his team seek for education solutions, Research innovation and technology to empower “Rural youths through technical and vocational training.

“They will also advocate for good governance and conflict Reconciliation and migration, Climate change, agriculture and access to land.

” The parliament will also push for Poverty alleviation and war against proliferation of small arms, assist youths venturing into entrepreneurship and participation in civil and political affairs” among others.

The principal officers appointed are Speaker, Rt Hon Gambo Ibrahim, Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Destiny Ohams, Leader of the house Wuruyai Godswill Doubra, Deputy Leader of the house Femi Royal.

Others are Chief Whip, Ojobo Emmanuel, Deputy Chief Whip, Ochuko Gotevbe, Clerk Oguamanam Uchenna. Deputy Clerk, Hon Solomon Gambo.

Sergeant at arms, Ademola Ogunoye, Deputy Speaker South East zone ….Hon Emma Amaefule. Deputy Speaker…South West zone Femi Royal, Deputy Speaker South South zone, Elvis Presley. Among others.
