Arewa Creative Forum Charges Govt on Youth Empowerment

Worried by increase number of unemployed youths in Nigeria, a non governmental organization, Arewa Creative Industry on Tuesday called on Nigerian government at all levels to encourage and support small scale investments to make the youth self reliant.
Addrssing journalists through Hajiya Halima Idris I Kaduna, the NGO described youths as backbone of every society hence the need to take them off crime by a way of making them productively engaged through skills acquisition and entrepreneur development programmes.
According to her, “youths are about 60 to 70% population of every Society. This has shown the need for Government, Individuals and non-governmental organization to create jobs opportunity that will help them cater for their needs without necessarily depend on government, because the government itself is overwhelmed by a lots of programs,” she stressed.
She further noted that Northern Nigeria is blessed with visionary, focus and brilliant youths, but absence of positive support has turned many of them to drugs addict and pose serious security challenge to their communities.
She said, “it was on this light we initiated this forum Arewa Creative Industry to assist our youths in adding values in their different walks of lives.
“We are hoping in the next four years, about 20 million youths would have been trained in areas like carpentry, tailoring, hair dressing, shoemaking, people living with disability among others.”
She hinted that the Forum comprises of high profile individuals from Muslims and Christian divide to see the need to contribute standard values in the lives of Nigerian youth in nation building.
She called on Private organizations for partnership in empowering the youth, ssying only this will discard them from instigating crisis in the Society.
The Forum however commended Kaduna State government under Malam Nasir El-rufai for empowering the youth just as it urged other states in the region to emulate Kaduna government with particular reference to 120,000 jobs created for Kaduna youths within 10 months.
