April Guber Polls: Confusion, Division in Southern Kaduna.

By Alex Uangbaoje

The Governorship Candidate of The Labour Party (LP) Polycarp Gankon in the coming guber election in Kaduna State has debunked the claims by a group called “Concern Citizens of Southern Kaduna” that he has agreed to step down for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) gubernatorial candidate James Bawa Magaji as a consensus candidate for the Southern Kaduna Interest.

In a swift reaction to the claims, Polycarp while addressing a press conference in Kaduna expressed disappointment over the action of the group.

Polycarp wonders how a good statesman like james bawa could sponsor such campaign of calumny against him by deceiving the people with this kind of falsehood, adding that “my candidature is not for sale, I refused to be identified with failure, I refused to be identified with people who feels that the leadership of Kaduna State is only met for few individuals”

Although Polycarp agreed that so many people has approached him with money in order to stepping down but said he rejected all the offers.

Earlier the group “Concern Citizens of Southern Kaduna” had alleged in a communique jointly signed by Dr. Yusuf G. Magaji Chairman and Mr. Gabriel Tukura Secretary of the group that after series of meetings with representatives of both parties has agreed that the APGA candidate Polycarp Gankon will step down in order for the LP candidate James Bawa to emerge as a consensus candidate for the Southern Kaduna people.

They said the reason for the consensus was to ensure that the Southern Kaduna People is no longer being shortchanged by the Northern part of the State.

“Despite our commitment and consistency to the politics, peaceful co-existence and the unity of Kaduna State we have been promised severally on rational gubernatorial candidacy in the leading political parties in the spirit of balancing the state’s political equation but the process has always been manipulated.” They stressed.
