Hon. Abdullahi Candido emerged the party’s flagbearer in the Primary conducted on the 16th of December 2015 for the upcoming Council election in March  in a controversial manner that has been followed with series of protests by various groups in the Area Council.

The latest protest was the invasion of the National Secretariat of the APC by the thugs in search of members of the National Working Committee whom they accused of imposing an unpopular candidate on them.

The thugs who came in trucks, dancing to various political songs and visibly angry, over-powered the security personnel on ground as they find their way into the premises of the secretariat brandishing and displaying their weapons and charms.

A former Councillor in AMAC and a major stakeholder in the disputed primary election, Mr. Otunba Nathaniel Ene was not so lucky as he was mal-handled by the protesting youth. Otunba was beaten blue and black to a point of stupor as the irate youth pounce on him brutally.

Speaking before he was assaulted  by the hoodlums, Mr Ene, was accompanied by placard-carrying protesters, called on the party leaders to conduct fresh primary election in AMAC in line with the recommendation of committees led by Hon Samson Osagie and Senator Dino Melaye.
He rejected the imposition of candidates.

“Give us our right…The reports say the party should include all the aspirants and conduct a re-run election so that we can have peace in the party. The entire 12 wards of AMAC and all delegates are here begging and appealing to the NWC to act on it so that we can have authentic candidate,” he said.

It would be recalled that  Barr. Amanda Pam who was disqualified from the race has headed to court. Abdulwahab Ekekhide, Coordinator, Amanda Pam Campaign Organisation said they approached the court to challenge her disqualification and secured an injunction, pending the resolution of the dispute and that they were surprised the party went on with the elections.

AMAC declares Abdullahi Candido winner of their primary election. Candido got 134 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ishaku Tanko Yamawo who scored 104 votes. But was followed by series of protest and controversies.

As at the time of filing the report, there was security beef up at the party Secretary to prevent further disturbancem
