55th Independence: UNICEF Staff Prays For Nigeria

In the spirit of patriotism, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Staff Association, Kaduna Field Office on Friday took time off their busy schedule to pray for Nigeria as it marked the 55th Independence Day celebration. 

UNICEF staff who came together in unity at the office premises ‎congratulates all Nigerians in attainment of 55 years of freedom from colonial rule. 

‎They prayed for Nigeria and its leaders using the second version of the National Anthem “Oh God of creation,  Direct our noble cause, Guide our leaders right 
Help our youths the truth to know, In love and honesty to grow 
And living just and true, Great lofty heights attain, 
To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.‎”

The UNICEF staff’s Independence celebration coincided with monthly birthdays celebrations for members of staff of the organisation. ‎

‎The birthday celebration which always takes place every last Fridays of the month, was lifted to Independence day because of Sallah holiday. Highpoint of the event was cutting of cake and presentation of gift items to the birthday “babies” as every members of staff waves the green white green Nigerian flag.

Speaking shortly after the event, Rabiu Musa, Media and External ‎Relations Officer, in the Kaduna Field Office urged Nigerians not to lose hope in their country.

Rabiu ‎charges citizens to always remember their leaders in prayers as this is the only way they can succeed in leading the Nation to a greater height.

He pledges UNICEF continued ‎support for the growth and sustainable development of the country especially where women and children are concerned.
