2016 Tournament unites Kaduna Polo Club members – Tournament Manager

The 2016 Kaduna International Polo Tournament has been used as an avenue to reunite all members of the Kaduna Polo Club who for a while distanced themselves from the club’s activities.

Tournament Manager of the club, Honourable Ibrahim Kontagora expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the ongoing tournament.

He said that all those who were before now aggrieved have been  pacified and they are back to the club, renewing their annual membership.

He described the development as a good one not just for Kaduna Polo Club, but for the entire country as it would further contribute to the development o the game.

“One of the successes of this tournament is the unity we have now.  In the past, we lost some of our valuable members. We realized the need for unity and brought everyone back. We said that everyone should come and pay annual subscription fees and contribute to the tournament and they are responding,” he explained.

Kontagora was optimistic that with the latest development, the Georgian Cup which featured only two teams this year will be competed for by not less than six teams next year.

“Initially, four teams registered for the Georgian Cup this year. Two later withdrew, with Kano Terra opting to compete on the Emir of Katsina Cup and Honourable Wadada’s team Keffi Ponys withdrew because 10 days after this tournament, his tournament would be coming up in Keffi, Nasarawa State,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, the final of the Georgian Cup is billed for play today (Thursday) at the Ahmadu Yakubu Polo Club House.

Polo fans and spectators are looking forward to an explosive game, judging from the display witnessed in their first encounter which ended 6-6 on Monday.
