2015 Election: NYSC Made it a success – Yero

The success of the 2015 general elections has been attributed to men and women serving the nation as corps members.

Delivering a presidential address during the swearing in of the 2015 Batch ‘A’ Corps Members at the National youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Kaduna. The Kaduna State governor Ramalan Yero Represented by Commissioner of Youth and Sports Dr. Yari Everton Peter. Said “the concluding story of the last elections cannot be completed without the mention of corps members who discharged their electoral duties with diligence, transparency and patriotism.

He charged them to be more dedicated with renewed vigour, commitment to progress and development of the nation in order to bring about positive advancement in their host communities.

He urged them to pay special attention all the programmes content and avoid running foul of the NYSC rules and regulations during their service year. Adding “you should challenge yourselves to learning the local language which will not only enhance your interaction, but provide a lifelong useful tool for communication.”

“My administration recognised from start, the strength the and vision of our youth and we have put in place many beneficial interventions which have increased the skills, self confidence and self-sufficiency available to the youths”

“I am particularly delighted with the unprecedented youth response to agriculture. Now across the country, in cultivation, aqua culture, processing, packaging: all along value chain, our youth are rediscovering their potentials, making adequate incomes and producing more food, with modern, exciting technique and equipment.” He explained

In his speech, the state NYSC coordinator Hilary Nasamu emphasised the need for corps members to take all camp programmes and activities seriously as they are compulsory and meant to equip them for the next phase of their service year.

According to him, about 2,200 corps members comprising 1,146 males and 1,054 females were registered. Adding “they have been of good behaviour and are responding well to training.”

Nasumu said he is confident they are going to have smooth exercise with the level of commitment and dedication the corps members have exhibited so far.

He commended the state governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC, Saying “we cannot succeed without the invaluable support of the state government”.
