Zulum Commissions School for 540 Orphans in Borno
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum Friday commissioned a basic school with capacity for more than 540 orphans, for whose education the school was built by a good Samaritan.
A Maiduguri based philanthropist, Barr. Zanna Mustapha, proprietor of Future Prowess (orphan school) and winner of UNHCR 2017 NANSEN refugees award, funded construction of the school. Children whose parents were killed as a result of a decade-long insurgency in Borno state are to be given free education.
Governor Zulum commended Mustapha for his philanthropy and assured him school of support from Borno state Government towards improving teaching and learning conditions.
The school’s head girl who spoke on behalf of students appealed to the Governor for additional school buses to ease transportation.
