Zangon Kataf begins installation ceremony of new traditional ruler with a pre-installation seminar
The Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, LGA, of Kaduna state will on Friday, 11thNovember, 2016 hold a seminar to kick-off the installation ceremony of their new traditional ruler, His Highness. the Agwatyap, Mr. Dominic Gambo Yahaya seven months after the demise of the Agwatyap His Highness Dr Yusuf Harrison Bungwon.
Prominent sons and daughters of the Chiefdom such as AVM Ishaya Aboi Shekarri (rtd) a one time Military Governor of old Kano State and Minister of Special Duties, Gen Zamani Lekwot (rtd), former Military Governor of Rivers State; Engr. Andrew Yakubu, former Group Managing Director, GMD, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC; Senator Danjuma Laah (PDP, Kaduna South) and Hon. Sunday Katung, (PDP, Rep. member, Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency) will lead invited guest and other renown Atyap sons and daughters to the pre-installation lecture to be delivered by Professor A K Usman, and Professor John La’ah.
This was contained in a Press Statement signed by Mr. Steve Bawa, the coordinator of the event, on behalf of ACDA and the organizing committee and made available to our Kaduna Correspondent yesterday.
Part of the statement reads: “Atyap land is witnessing a large influx of our people who are resident outside home; some coming from abroad to celebrate the installation of the new Agwatyap and to pay homage and express loyalty to our new paramount ruler, His Highness The Agwatayp Mr. Dominic Gambo Yahaya.
“As part of the ceremony, we shall be having a seminar with papers to be delivered by two of our sons, who are prolific in their fields. They are Prof. A K Usman and Professor John Laah.
“Prof. Usman who is a Professor of law and the current Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammdu Buhari on Lega Matters, Research and Documentation will be speaking on Tyap Civilization looking at Atyap architecture, ancestral religion and cultural renaissances and reinvention, while Prof La’ah who is a Professor of Geography at with Kaduna State University, will speak on the theme – Harnessing Demographic Dividends of Tyap land.
“The Chairman of the occasion is the distinguished educationist Mr. Francis Mutuah who will lead the Chairman of Southern Kaduna Elders’ Consultative Forum, Gen. Zamani Lekwot (rtd) and other elders as well as leaders of the Atyap Chiefdom to the occasion. Those to accompany him will include, Senator Danjuma Laah, (PDP, Kaduna South); former Group Managing Director GMD, of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Engr. Andy Yakubu, former Military Administrator of Kano State, AMV Ishaya Shekari among other distinguished personalities. All broad sections of Atyap society will be represented at the event which will take place at Unguwan Wakili, about a kilometer away from the Palace of Agwatyap in Zangon Kataf town on Friday.
The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai will give the staff of office to the new Agwatyap His Highness Mr Dominic Gambo Yahaya.
