A Kaduna based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Zamani Foundation, a well known advocate for the rights of women, youths and children in Nigeria and beyond, at the weekend play host to over 50 widows, orphans and children to a funfair as part of activity to mark its Christmas/end of year outreach.

Speaking at the event, Founder/CEO Zamani Foundation, Talatu Zamani, said the end of year outreach is an annual programme in the calender of the organization where they have to provide the less privileged children, orphans and widows with support to make their Christmas and new year a worthwhile.

“When it is Christmas period like this nobody tends to remember widows, orphans and the less privileged children in the society, so we at Zamani Foundation, every year we organize programme for widows and orphans and less privileged children, where we give out gift item, food and cloths to them.

” This year United Kingdom (UK) Embassy donated different gift items to us for the children and we felt rather than going to a particular rural community to distribute the items, we decided to go into the streets to pick the poorest of poor and get them together to celebrate with them.” She explained.

Talatu, encouraged the widows not to loose hope, saying, “there is always a dim of light somewhere, no matter how you think things are difficult, no matter how hard you think things are, you should know that Zamani Foundation love you and will always be there for you.”

She commended the UK Embassy for providing Zamani Foundation with gift items for children this year, thereby reducing the burden on her NGO this festive season.

The widows who could not hold their joy, thanked Zamani Foundation for remembering them at a time they thought no one is thinking about them. They pray God to bless the organization and continue to expand it the way they are putting smiles on the faces of widows, orphans and the less privileges in the society.

Some of the activities to mark the event include: quiz competition among widows and the children, presentation of prices, partying and refreshments. Santa Claus was also on ground to present the children with gift items.
