Yuletide: Widows of Soldiers Laud NGO for Providing Them With Succor

Some Plateau and Bauchi widows of soldiers who lost their lives in fight against insurgents, Boko Haram, has commended the founder of Late Lieutenant Col. Kabiru Yusuf Help for Heroes Foundation for providing them with succor to ease their suffering, especially during yuletide. 

The NGO as part of its activities to mark the end of the year 2017, distributed food items to widows of soldiers in Bauchi and Plateau states.

The widows in a chat with journalists at different occasions, said the gesture is the first anyone has done for them. They expressed their appreciation to the NGO for remembering them and called on others to emulate them. 

Mrs Zuwaira Ibrahim and Mrs Rahila Hosea who spoke on behalf of soldiers widow in Bauchi thanked the charity organization for remembering them, adding, “before now we thought we were on our own, we are happy that there are still kind hearted people in this world that are willing to help others.”

In the same vain, those in Jos, Plateau State, noted, “For a very long time after the death of our husbands we have been on our own, this is the first time anyone has done something like this for us. We pray to Almighty God to continue to bless and reward them for their efforts and replenish their pockets”.

They also called on their fellow widows to remain steadfast and not to lose faith but they should rather commit themselves to building the lives of the children.

Presenting the items to the widows, President and Founder of the organisation, Alhaji Mashood Kayode Yusuf, the gesture is aimed at providing relief for the widows in the spirit of the upcoming Christmas celebrations.

Represented by the Matron of the Foundation, Hajiya Shola Raji, the president assured the widows of the Organisation’s commitment to continue to assist them in every way possible to make life easier for them. 

“Be rest assured that the doors of the foundation are open to you at all times, but it is important to stress that the foundation is not in any way responsible for helping any widow collect their benefits and entitlements we will try our utmost best to empower you and ease your sufferings in any way we can.” She added.

Items distributed to the widows include; food items and cooking oil among others.

Meanwhile an empowerment project exercise for the military widows in Kaduna is slated for Friday 22nd of December, at the Foundation’s office premises in Kaduna.
