We’ll Resist Any Attempt to Frustrate Saraki –Northern Group

Northern based Arewa Youth Development Association, AYDA has vowed to resist any attempt by some politicians within and outside All Progressives Congress , APC to frustrate the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President.
The group, which threatened to fight back if those aggrieved fail to accept Saraki and allow peace reign in the Senate and House of Representatives, said it’s prepared to explore all means within the law to ensure that the election is valid.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the group in conjunction with other eleven groups across 19 northern states held at Tavern Hotel, Kaduna Sunday, National President of AYDA,Alhaji Imrana Wada Nas said it is only when the aggrieved senators concede defeat and allow peace to reign that the lawmakers can settle down for legislative duty which they were primarily elected for.
“We are just wondering what could have informed the rejection of Saraki after he was duly election by 57 senate members against 51”. It queried.
According to him, now that the APC has accepted Senator Saraki’s emergence as Senate President, it is expected that aggrieved party leaders and members do same.
“We have high regard for Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other aggrieved, but as concerned Nigerians, we urge everyone to sheath sword.
“All we are urging them to do is to allow Nigerians enjoy the good governance and concrete dividends of democracy”. He stated.
While commending, President Muhammadu Buhari for displaying a high level of Statesmanship during the senate brouhaha, Wada Nas said the group will continue to stand by Saraki not as northerners , but as concerned Nigerians who believe in the peace , unity and progress of Nigeria.
The National President of AYDA who said if APC as a party has considered reasons of balance, fairness and justice , the current problem , rocking the party and overheating the polity wouldn’t have occurred , explained “After President Buhari from the defunct CPC is president, Professor Osinbajo from ACN as Vice President; it is only fair to give or allow a new PDP member in the APC to emerge “.
He however disclosed that they have decided to stand by Saraki because they know he has adequate capacity, experience right leadership qualities and ability to give the senate the expected focus and direction to deliver on its primary mandate of making law for peace , progress and development
