UNICEF Reiterates Partnership with Kaduna on Nutrition

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reiterates its commitment to continue to partner Kaduna State Government in different sectors especially on nutrition.

Chinwe Ezeife, UNICEF Kaduna Field Office, Nutrition specialist, made this known on Thursday, during a Media Parley on nutrition Interventions in Kaduna State, organised by the state Planning and Budget Commission (P&BC).

According to Ezeife, UNICEF, has been at the forefront in providing technical and funding support for Kaduna state in different sector and will continue to do that until all the issues afflicting children and women of child bearing ages are brought to the barest minimum.

She said UNICEF is supporting the state Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program implementation and the Community Management Of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) project which have led the the establishment of 82 CMAM centres in 17 Local Government Areas in the state.

“Kaduna state government is highly committed to nutrition program towards ensuring improved nutrition among women and children, they have committed a lot of human capital and financial resources to it so we will continue to support them.

Earlier, the Director, Aid Coordination, P&BC, Linda Yakubu, noted that the media parley was to further underscore the importance of the media in disseminating nutrition information in the state.

“We want you to continue to help us amplify what we are doing around nutrition. A lots has happened since 2017 and not everything we do are known to the public.

“So we fell it is time for us to partner a larger section of the media to further amplify the good work we have been doing around nutrition.

“A lot is going on around nutrition, particularly in the treatment of acute malnutrition in children and we know the are the future of tomorrow, and if we don’t project it people might not really know about what we do.

“And if there is need for them to seek help, if these things are not properly amplified they will not know where to get it.”
