Education Stakeholders in Kaduna recently validated a tracking tool for accountability, transparency and quality assurance for Private Schools in Kaduna State.

Participants at the validation meeting supported by Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE), reviewed the Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADBEAM’s) existing monitoring tool for Non-state Schools.

The stakeholders which were drawn from members of KADBEAM, representatives of Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, State Universal Basic Education Board, Non-state School Associations, and School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), discuss strategies of conducting non-state school monitoring exercises and agreed to conduct monitoring.

Earlier in his remarks, Ahmed Baba Jibril, Reform Facilitator for PLANE Program in Kaduna, noted that the review became necessary because the existing monitoring tool by KADBEAM does not reflect the unique dynamics of non-state schools, as it only relevant for assessing and evaluating public schools.

“Given the importance of monitoring non-state schools, there is a need to review the existing monitoring tool to incorporate indicators that reflect their realities.

“With the increasing presence and contribution of non-state schools in the education sector, there is a growing need to extend monitoring mechanisms beyond public schools to include non-state educational institutions.

“This inclusion will enhance oversight, ensure compliance with education standards, and promote quality education across both public and non-state schools.” He said. While commending the mechanism, Ahmed, stated that “KADBEAM plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and quality assurance in the education sector.
