Southern Kaduna Attack: Over 200 Fulanis Now Refugees – Victim

One of the Fulani escapee in the recent attack at Kujuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State has revealed that over 200 Fulanis has refugees in various nearby communities in the area, calling on the Kaduna State Government to come to their rescue.
He accused the State government and the police of not making any arrest since the incident that according to him, “claimed more than 54 people, mainly Women and Children of Fulani extraction”.
Kaduna State Police command had on Wednesday 19th July 2017, said that 32 persons mostly women and children were killed in a fresh clashes between groups of youth and herdsmen in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
But the escapee who himself is a herdman, identified himself as Yusuf Danfulani, claimed he was an eye witness and saw when 54 people including pregnant women and little were buried before his eyes.
Narrating his experience, Yusuf, added that, “some people came to our community on Monday 17th July 2017, to attack us, after sone cattle belonging to a Fulani man invaded a farm in Kufana area and destroyed crops.
“So when the cattle owner went to the farmer to apologize, they put laws into their hands and killed him.
“This angered some Fulanis in the area and they went to Aku village to attack them for killing their brother and 4 Aku people died in the process.
“On Monday night, the Aku people mobilised and attacked the Fulani community in the area and killed and displaced some many people who have been living in the area for more than 60 years, burnt down our houses, killed our animals and other valuables.
“Right now, over 200 Fulanis have flee their villages and are now refugees in nearby communities without clothing. We have lost our animals and grains worth millions of naira.
“I am calling on the Kaduna State government to come to our aid and assist Fulanis in the area and also intervene so it will not repeat itself because it portends danger for the future.
“Government should also try its best to arrest those behind the killing of our people.”
