Senate Presidency: Coalition of Youths, Students Throws Weight Behind Lawan …..gives reason

Following the controversy over who become president of the 9th Senate, a group, Coalition of Youths and Students Organization in Nigeria (CYSON), on Tuesday throws their weight behind the candidacy of Senator Ahmad Lawan.The group, led by Usman Baba Kankia, at a press conference, said they are supporting Senator Lawan, considering his vast legislative experience acumen, intellectual sagacity, honesty, objectiveness and education, adding, “he is the right man for the job.”
They argued that, the All Progressive Congress (APC) zoning arrangement is sensitive to National Unity and cohesion, saying, “the APC have endorsed Distinguished Sen Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan PhD whom came from the North-East geopolitical zone.””On this note, coalition of youth and students organization in Nigeria aptly decides to throw it weight and support to Sen. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan to preside over the 9th Assembly as his choice clearly reflects the federal character, considering the fact that Mr president comes from the North-west while his Deputy Senate President comes from the South-west geopolitical zones respectively and the North-central have held the position for an uninterrupted period of twelve (12) years of which is under Dist. Sen. David Mark and Four (4) years under the incumbent Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki.”It is on record despite having ranking and experience senators, the North-East have never produced a senate president the time is now for this war ravaged zone to be given a voice in order to give a sense of national belonging.”Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan is an independent minded person that will provide the needed leadership in the senate, build bridges across party lines, instill confidence, motivation and will lead a rancor free senate that will be focused on ruling out pragmatic policies and programs that will assist the executive in discharging their responsibilities.”Increase funding of the education sector, improve security, bring about peace, accelerate deployment and facilitate economic growth that will translate into citizens prosperity, make Nigeria a favorable and competitive, foreign investment destination, grow our local industries and explore our vast mineral deposit to the potential.”It is on this, that the youth and students of Nigeria support this Honorable personality to captain the ship of the 9th assembly to the next level.” They added.
