Saudi Arabia Imposes Visa Restrictions on Nigeria and 13 Other Countries

In a recent policy shift, Saudi Arabia has introduced new restrictions on short-term visa issuance for citizens of Nigeria and 13 other countries, effective April 13, 2025. This development comes via an official document currently in circulation.

The restrictions affect all categories of short-term visas, including single- and multiple-entry business visit visas, e-tourist visas, and family visit visas.

According to the directive, new visa applications from affected countries will no longer be accepted after April 13, 2025. Individuals holding valid visas may still enter Saudi Arabia before this date, but they must exit the country by the same deadline.

The document further warns that non-compliance with the directive could result in a ban from entering Saudi Arabia for up to five years. The decision applies even to multiple-entry business visas, regardless of their current validity.

The 14 countries affected by the restriction include: Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Indonesia.

While Saudi authorities have not yet provided an official explanation for the decision, analysts suggest it may be linked to upcoming Hajj preparations, security concerns, or logistical challenges.
