Rice distribution: Police assault pressman in Kaduna.
A senior police officer in kaduna has assaulted a journalist trying to snap a photo of the wife of the vice-president Arc. Namadi Sambo.
The police officer who was identified as K. Abubakar apprehend the journalist while he was trying to snap a picture of the vice president’s wife Amina Namadi Sambo as she was giving out food items to beneficiaries of her women empowerment programme in Kaduna.
K. Abubakar dragged the journalist from the camera stand to back stage and refuse to listen to him when he was trying to explain that he is a journalist.
When the journalist tried to show his press ID card to the officer he collected it and break it up then put it back to his pocket and ordered his men to throw him out of the environment, saying “I don’t care about your ID card.”
A situation that annoyed members of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) who went and met the officer to explain to them why he acted that way.
When approached, the officer acknowledged that he is aware that the ID card was broken but denied that it was not him that broke the ID card.
As at the time of filing this report nothing has been done about it.
