Reps Summons FCT Ministers Over Allege Constitution Breach

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Mohammad Bello on Wednesday was summoned to appear before the House of Representatives t appear before its Committee on FCT.
Bello was summoned to explain to the Committee why the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS is mandated to collect taxes and not the FCT Inland Revenue Service which the law mandated to do so.
Abdulrazak Namdas sponsored a motion on matters of urgent public importance noted that the FCT Inland Revenue Services and its Management Board Act authorises the FCT to establish a board that will collect all forms.
“The Minister of FCT has signed a comprehensive agreement with the Federal Inland Revenue Service to collect taxes for the FCT, in breach of the existing law, “he said.
The House which adopted the motion after it was put to voice vote by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara mandated the Committee to report the outcome of its meeting with the Minister to the House within two weeks.
