Reps Denies N100M Buhari ‘bribe’ Allegation
…. Say N60b Approves For Constituency Projects

Members of the House of Representatives have denied an earlier media reports that each member got N100 million from President Muhammadu Buhari, but admitted that N60 billion only was approved by the President for constituency projects.
Speaking in a media chat, the spokes person of the House of Representatives Honourable Abdulrazak Namdas, said that constituency project is an executive project and that the money is not release in cash to a lawmakers but tied to a project.
Namdas added that the money is shared according to states, adding that lawmakers may not get equal amount since it will be shared according to the number of lawmakers in a state.
According to him,”A zonal intervention of N60 billion was approved by the President. The money is not given as cash. It is shared according to states and you have to name a project and domicile it in a project. It is an executive project and it is also an international practice.
Namdas however, maintained that the money is yet to get to the legislators as the budget is yet to be approved. “The budget has not been signed. So I don’t see how somebody can execute the budget in advance”.
Also speaking, Hon. Muhammadu Bala Farouk denied telling the media that Honourable members got N100 million each as constituency projects, saying that he was misquoted.
“I was shocked, shocked to the extent that my shock absorbers could not withhold my bewilderment when I heard that I said that each member was given N100 million to go and execute constituency project in their constituency.
“I was misquoted. I want to apologise to all Nigerians and to all the members of the National Assembly” Farouk said.
