A devastating
rainstorm at Akho and Usugbenu
communities in Esan Central Local
Government Area of Edo State has damaged
properties worth millions of naira.
The roof of more than ten houses were
removed, while properties of the affected
inhabitants littered the environment.
Electricity poles and cables were lying on
the ground due to the effect of the
rainstorm
Some of the affected community members
who said they have never experienced such
calamity before, lamented that the
rainstorm took them by surprise in the
evening when it began to rain normally.
They said before they could realise what
was happening, their roof have been blown
off and they found themselves and their
belongings in the middle of the rain with
their homes flooded with water.
While some of the displaced inhabitant said
they sought refuge in neighbours
apartment, others however lamented over
how they slept in the rain till daybreak, as
according to them, they have no where to
go.
They appealled to the local and the state
government to as a matter of urgency come
to their aid to ameliorate their sufferings.
Effort to obtain comment from the local
government chairman, Prince Solomon
Eromosele was unsuccessful as he was said
to be away from office on official
assignment.
