Polls: All Round Victory Sure for PDP – Sambo

Less than one week to the presidential election,
vice President Namadi Sambo on Sunday met with women and youth groups in
continuation of consultations to further
woo support for President Goodluck
Jonathan ahead of the election.
In his address to the gathering which held
at the Umar Musa Yar’Adua indoor hall at
the Murtala square Kaduna, the vice
President tasked the women and youths on
the need to vote for President Jonathan and
all the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
candidates all through.
Sambo who enumerated the achievement
of President Jonathan, stressed that the
President has done creditably well to
deserve continuity to consolidate on the
successes recorded so far.
He told supporters of PDP that all strategies
have been perfected in Kaduna and Nigeria
to ensure that the ruling party wins the
2015 elections.
He said PDP has maintained power for
about 16 years with good records of
performance and would be difficult for the
opposition party to defeat the party during
the elections.
The Vice President said there is need for
women and youth to vote PDP all the way to
guarantee a sustainable empowerment and
development .
He reiterated that there are plans to engage
over two million women and youth annually
through an employment scheme ,SURE-P
and the agricultural sector.
He charged all PDP supporters to get their
Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) and come
out en mass and vote PDP without fears or
intimidation from the opposition party .
Sambo stated further, ” If you vote PDP be
rest assured that your votes will be
translated into more transformation
agenda” .
According to Sambo, the PDP has performed creditably well in the state and at federal levels especially in area of power supply, educational development, reviving
railway and other comatose industries in the north.
He however cautioned the youth , who are
usually used to stir up violence during and
after elections to desist from such vices and
consider the need for a hitch-free elections.
In the area of fight against corruption, he
said, “no government ever has fought
corruption and corrupt persons like
President Jonathan’s administration.
“The administration has recovered billions
of naira and foreign currencies that were
stolen and kept in foreign accounts.
“In the same vein, several persons have
been prosecuted accordingly.
“I encourage you not to be deceived by
those clamouring for change, they don’t
have anything to offer.
Kaduna State Governor Muktar Ramalan
Yero who also took turn to address the
gathering admonished the people not to
give in to any form of harassment,
intimidation or fear.
“Don’t intimidate anyone, don’t harrass
anyone but don’t allow yourselves to be
intimidated, come out without any fear and
cast your votes, protect your votes and that
of your friends.
“The security operatives will be on ground
to protect you at all times and against all
forms of intimidation and break down of
law and order.”
He further called on well meaning Nigerians
to canvass votes from their friends,
colleagues and acquaintances for the PDP.
